Pastor Ruder served the Zion Congregational Church in Ritzville, Washington, for 10 years. He retired in 1951 and moved to Pasco, Washington.
He married Emma Dorothea (maiden name unknown). She was born 26 February 1884 and died 30 January 1963. They have three daughters: Florence Gackle, Theresa Mieniger, and Margaret Loraine Ruder.
