Braun

Johann Ludwig Braun, son of Heinrich Braun of Blasbach near Solms married on 20 May 1762 in Lollar (Oberhessen) to Anna Elisabeth Erb, the widow of Johann Caspar Roth. She was baptized on 4 November 1732 in nearby Großen-Buseck. They had one son, Johann Heinrich, who was baptized 28 August 1763 in Lollar.

Anna Elisabetha Erb had three surviving children from her first marriage to Johann Caspar Roth (all born in Lollar): (1) Heinrich Balthasar, born 21 June 1754; (2) Johann Georg, born 6 February 1757; and (3) Georg Ludwig, born 10 October 1759.

Ludwig Braun, his wife, their son Johann Heinrich, and the three Roth stepsons immigrated to Russia. They arrived from Lübeck on 25 July 1766 on board the snow-brig Maria Sophia under the command of skipper Johann Bauer. They then where transported to the Volga colonies, and son Philipp Magnus Braun was born in route.

The Braun/Roth family arrived in Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 88. The youngest Roth (Georg Ludwig) is not listed, so he must have died between arrival and the date of the census which was some time later that year.

Ludwig Braun is recorded on on the 1798 Census in Household No. Wr077 in Warenburg and son Magnus in Household No. Wr083. Stepson Heinrich Balthasar Roth is recorded there in Household No. 005.
