Andreas Braun and Dorothea Frey married in Wehrda in 1759. According to the family registers of Wehrda, they had three children prior to emigrating to Russia: Georg Friedrich, born 29 October 1759 (died 20 March 1763); Johannes, born 1 December 1762; and Johann Peter, born 19 May 1765.

Michael Rusch and Anna Margaretha Braun married in Wehrda in 1758. According to the family registers of Wehrda, they had three children prior to emigrating to Russia: Andreas, born 6 Oct 1758 (died 6 Oct 1758), Anna Barbara, born 15 Nov 1759), and Andreas, born 26 Nov 1761.

Both families arrived in Russia on the same ship on 22 July 1766. The Braun family is reported in the First Settlers List of Grimm in Household No. 8. Anna Barbara Rusch is reported as an orphan in that family. Her brother is reported in the family of Johannes Braun, Household No. 10.

It is not clear from the Wehrda family registers how the Braun individuals are related.
