Description
The surname Maurer is not actually found in Balzer because it is the maiden name of one of the original settlers: Jacobina Maurer. She was born 15 February 1734/35 in Kirchardt, Baden, a small village in the hills to the east of Heidelberg, and baptized there on February 19. She married Christoph Karle. They arrived in Balzer on 28 August 1765.
