Conrad Oppenländer, son of Johann Michael Oppenländer & Benigna Rosina Goldner, was born on 15 January 1736 in Kleingartach. He married there on 27 January 1761 to Maria Magdalena Mayer, daughter of Valentin Mayer & Christina Catharina Vogt. She had been born there in January 1740.
Konrad's family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein), departing from Altona, Duchy of Holstein, on 14 June 1762 under the leadership of Adam Saam. They arrived in the city of Flensburg, Duchy of Schleswig, on 19 June 1762 and are recorded on 9 April 1764 on the farmstead of Fuchskuhle in the colony of Friedrichsanbau.
They deserted the colony on 27 Apriul 1765 and immigrated to Russia, arriving in Shcherbakovka on 27 April 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 39. Maria Magdalena was widowed, and is recorded on the 1798 Census in Shcherbakovka along with her new husband and family in Household No. Sv42.
At some point, the most common spelling of this surname became Oblander.
