Description

Johann Konrad Ritter was born in 1717 in Ladenburg (now in Baden-Württemberg). He married there on 30 July 1754 to Elisabeth Zeissel. She was born in 1719 and died on 1 March 1758 in Ladenburg. He remarried on 27 June 1758 in Ladenburg to Margaretha Kriechbaum. She had been born on 17 May 1727 in Elmshausen.

The Ritter family immigrated first to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein).  One child was born there: Anna Maria Jacobina, baptized 14 September 1760 in Karup Parish, Viborg Amt.

The family then immigrated in 1765 to Russia. They arrived in the colony of Balzer on 26 April 1766 and Conrad is recorded there as a widower on the 1767 census in Household no. 18. There do not appear to be any Ritter descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
