Johannes Kröning, son of Heinrich Kröning and Elisabetha Nix, was baptized on 6 April 1727.  Anna Veronica Veÿ, daughter of Carol Veÿ and Magdalena Buttner, was baptized on 15 Dec 1717.  Johannes and Anna Veronica married on 30 May 1747. The baptisms of four children, all born in Mosbach, are recorded in the Gersfeld parish records on the following dates: Johannes, 9 May 1748; Barbara, 12 March 1751; Elisabetha Margaretha, 13 Oct 1753; and Margaretha, 27 August 1756.

The couple arrived in Russia on 14 September 1766 (surname misspelled "as "Gruening"), on the same ship as many other families who also came from the Gersfeld area.  The family settled in Frank and are recorded there on the First Settler's List in Family #111.
