Johann Henrich Schneider was born 13 June 1727 in Steinbach. He married Maria Magdalena Jung on 15 April 1751. She had been born in 1734. They had two known sons: (1) Johann Jacob, born 9 September 1752, died 13 October 1752; and (2) Ludwig Peter born 6 December 1754, and died 22 March 1756.
Johann Henrich's sister Anna Margaretha Schneider was married to Johann Peter Haas, both of whom died in 1760. They had seven known children (three of whom also died in 1760). Two of the seven were: (1) Anna Elisabetha, born 23 March 1752; and (2) Anna Maria, born 21 June 1757.
Henrich Schneider, his wife Maria Magdalena, and the two Haas girls immigrated to Russia, arriving from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the galliott Anna Catharina with Johann Joachim Janson as skipper. The extended Schneider family arrived in the Volga German colony of Paulskaya on 17 August 1767 where they wintered. They settled the following year in Hockerberg. In 1770, the entire family moved to Basel.
On the 1798 census of Basel, widow Magdalena Schneider geb. Jung is recorded in Household No. Bs35 along with Anna Maria Haas and her family. Anna Elisabeth Haas had returned to Hockerberg where she is recorded on the 1798 Census at Household No. Hb08 along with her husband Gabriel Hautzel.
