Description

Johann Heinrich Schneider family, settlers in Grimm:

Johann Heinrich Schneider, son of Georg Schneider from Heimertshausen, and Catharina Hofmann, daughter of Georg Hofmann from Zell, married in Zell on 27 June 1747. Johann Heinrich and Catharina had seven children in Zell: Anna Elisabetha, born 3 May, baptized 5 May 1748; Elisabetha, born 24 April, baptized 26 April 1750 (died 5 November, buried 7 November 1753); Johannes, born 21 September, baptized 24 September 1752; Johann Georg, born 19 June, baptized 21 June 1754; Johann Heinrich, born 3 February, baptized 6 February 1757; Johannes, born 20 October, baptized 22 October 1758 (died 22 November, buried 24 November 1758); Maria Elisabetha, born 6 April, baptized 8 April 1760. Johann Heinrich Schneider died on 27 December 1761 at the age of 45 years and 7 months. His widow Catharina married Johann Heinrich Zulauf, son of Johannes Zulauf, on 10 February 1763. Johann Heinrich Zulauf and Catharina had one child: Anna Catharina, born 26 August, baptized 27 August 1764 (died 31 December 1765, buried 2 January 1766).

The combined Schneider-Zulauf family arrived in Russia on 19 July 1766, along with Johann Heinrich Zulauf's brother Johannes Zulauf and his family.

There appears to be an error in the published translation of the Grimm 1767 Census with repect to these two Zulauf families. Household #49 includes Johann Heinrich Zulauf and his wife Anna Katharina. However, the children reported there are the children of his brother Johannes. The Schneider children are missing from the published translation, as are Johannes Zulauf and his wife. It is clear from later records that both Zulauf brothers survived to settle in Grimm.

On the 1775 Census, Heinrich Zulauf, his wife Maria Elisabetha, their son Johann Adam, and Heinrich's Schneider step-children Johannes, Heinrich, and Elisabetha are reported in Household #125.

The 1798 Census includes several individuals who are likely descendants of this family. Johannes Schneider is reported in Grimm Household #72. Georg Schneider is reported in Grimm Household #81.

There is another Schneider family in Grimm (the Johann Adam Schneider family) who was not found in the Billertshausen parish records.

Johann Georg Schneider, settler in Müller:

Johann Georg Schneider was baptized in Zell on 2 November 1732, the son of Johann Heinrich Schneider and his wife Maria Elisabetha. Johann Georg was confirmed in Zell in 1746.

Johann Georg Schneider, from the Darmstadt region, and Anna Barbara Schmidt from Fulda, married in Lübeck on 17 July 1766.

Johann Schneider and his wife Anna arrived in Russia on 19 July 1766 on the same ship as other families who settled in Grimm, Müller, and Stephan, including the other two Schneider families from Zell.

Georg Schneider and his wife Barbara are reported on the Müller 1767 Census (First Settlers List) in Household #11.

Anna Barbara Schmidt, widow of Johann Georg Schneider, is reported on the Müller 1798 Census in Household #34 along with three of their children. The movement tables in the 1798 Census report that Anna Maria, daughter of Georg Schneider, moved to Dreipitz in 1794.

Johannes Schneider family, settlers in Stephan:

Johannes Schneider was born in Zell 18 April, baptized 19 April 1716, and confirmed there in 1730, son of Johann Conrad Schneider and his wife Elisabetha. Anna Barbara Raab was born in Zell 3 February, baptized 4 February 1724, and confirmed there in 1738, daughter of Johannes Raab and his wife Maria. Johannes and Anna Barbara married in Zell on 11 October 1742. Johannes and Anna Barbara had ten children, all born and baptized in Zell: Maria Elisabetha, born 26 November, baptized 27 November 1744; Johann Heinrich, born 15 January, baptized 17 January 1748; Maria Elisabeth, born and baptized 27 November 1750; Johann Just, born 8 February, baptized 10 February 1753 (died 9 October, buried 10 October 1753); Johann Georg, born 19 October, baptized 21 October 1754 (died 6 December buried 9 December 1754); Anna Elisabetha, born 15 January, baptized 17 January 1756; Elisabetha Dorothea, born 22 March, baptized 24 March 1759 (died 31 October, buried 2 November 1761); Johannes, born 9 February, baptized 10 February 1762; and Johann Georg, born 14 April, baptized 16 April 1764.

Johannes Schneider, his wife Anna (Barbara), and their six children Maria Elisabetha, Johann (Heinrich), Maria (Elisabetha), Anna (Elisabetha), Johannes, and (Johann) Georg arrived in Russia on 19 July 1766 on the same ship as other families who settled in Grimm, Müller, and Stephan, including the other two Schneider families.

Johannes Schneider, his wife Anna Barbara, and their four older children are reported on the published Transport Lists. Johannes died during the journey, as did the younger Maria Elisabeth. A daughter Anna Catharina was born during the journey.

Widow Barbara Schneider, her son Johann Heinrich, and daughter Anna Elisabeth are reported on the Stephan 1767 Census (First Settlers List) in Household #10.

The 1798 Census of Stephan reports Johann Heinrich Schneider and his family in Household #16.
