Description

Johann Daniel Wigand, son of Sebastian and Anna Catharina Wigand, was baptized on 25 March 1725 in Bönstadt.  He married Anna Maria Hildebrand in Büdingen on 23 April 1766.  The couple arrived in Russia on 9 August 1766.  They settled in Norka, and are reported there in Family #78 on the First Settler's List.

Böhnstadt (now Bönstadt) is located just west of Calbach. At the time that Johann Daniel Wigand left this area in 1766, Böhnstadt was part of the Solms-Braunfels Principality. Today it is part of the County of Friedberg in Hessen.

A previous version of this page suggested that all of the Weigandt settlers in Norka came from Bönstadt.  In fact, almost all of the Weigandt settlers in Norka came from Altwiedermus.
