Description

Jacob Friedrich Gechter was born 11 August 1734 in Waldenbuch.  His parents were Johann Georg Gechter, born 21 Septermber 1705, and Anna Catharina Klein, born 17 May 1706.

Jacob appears to be the only member of his family who emigrated to Russia. He settled in Walter and is recorded there with his wife Anna Barbara on the First Settler's List in Family #32.

His son Jacob Friedrich moved to Kolb at some point before 1816. His daughter Anna Margaretha moved to Frank in 1796 and married Daniel Schmidt.

Two Kechter (Gechter) families from Walter relocated to Brunnental in 1859.

Several branches of the family can be traced back to the 1500s in Waldenbuch using the Genealogische Kartei (Genealogical card index) available as part of the records uploaded to Archion.
