Description

Erasmus (Asmus) Döll, was baptized in Altenschlirf on 19 May 1719, the son of Johannes Döll and Anna Gela Boss.

Erasmus married Elisabetha Catharina Kunckel (daughter of Johann Conrad Kunckel from Heckenbergheim), on 10 May 1740 in the Reformed church at Heckenbergheim. Heckenbergheim is near Gelnhaar and Usenborn and is now known as Bergheim.

Erasmus and Elisabetha Catharina had 7 children according to the Heckenbergheim parish records, born on the following dates: Anna Maria, 22 Mar 1741; Johann Heinrich 3 Oct 1743; Christian 25 Jan 1746; Johannes, 2 Feb 1749; Anna Elisabeth, 12 Feb 1751; Johann Heinrich, 2 Apr 1754; and Johann Heinrich, 25 Feb 1759.

Erasmus emigrated to the Duchy of Pomerania in the early 1760s. Apparently he was unsatisfied there and petitioned the Privy Council of Hessen-Hanau to return to Bergheim in 1764. His petition was approved.

On 4 Apr 1766, Erasmus, along with several other heads of household, petitioned the Privy Council for approval to emigrate to Russia. Included in this group of petitioners were Dietrich Homburg and Johann Peter Steinmetz. Johann Peter Steinmetz married Anna Maria Döll, the daughter of Erasmus on 17 Jul 1764 in the Catholic church at Heldenbergen. The petition to emigrate to Russia was approved by the Council.

Erasmus and the five younger children arrived in Russia on 16 Aug 1766 aboard the galliot "Frau Diederika". Peter and Anna Maria Steinmetz arrived in Russia on 18 Aug 1766 aboard the Lübeck galliot "Die Perle".

Elisabetha Catharina died en route to the settlement area. Erasmus married again to Anna Catharina (surname unknown).

The Döll families settled in the colony of Walter and are reported on the Walter First Setter’s List in Households #34, #35, and #36.  Anna Maria Döll and her husband Peter Steinmetz are listed in Walter Household #98.

Three Döll families from Walter relocated to Brunnental after 1858.
